A former Royal Marine corporal, Black served for a decade in the Corps, including an operational tour of Afghanistan and an advisory mission in Iraq. His travels and experiences around the world provide much of the inspiration and authenticity behind his fiction.
His novels follow Connor Reed, a former Royal Marine turned deniable intelligence operative, through a world of espionage, organised crime, terrorism and political intrigue. Fast-paced, violent and unapologetically entertaining, the series is written for readers who like their thrillers with sharp edges and morally complicated heroes.
The Connor Reed novels have now sold more than 100,000 copies, building a readership in the UK and internationally.
Away from writing, Black has competed in boxing and Brazilian jiu-jitsu, in both Gi and No-Gi competition — experiences that also inform the combat and physicality found throughout his novels.
Alongside Connor Reed, Black has introduced Bruce McQuillan, taking readers back to the origins of the shadowy world that would eventually shape Reed’s life.
